i took off the cover to my metal airfilter (1972 series 3 2.25ltr petrol) and there was a little oil in the bottom, should this be there, if not is there a cleaning solution that i should use to clean the filter.

its a paper elemant right ??

dont be so cheap and just go get a new 1 and simply wipe the oil out of the housing

mind you i bet you will be doing this on a monthlly basis

no its a metal one, i haven't had it long (The Landy that is) and i was exporing lol

if the filter is like this

then wash it out and dry, empty the oil from pan and clean,then fill to line(about an inch from bottom-ish) with engine oil and re-fit
