If the sump plug washer hasn't been replaced oil will puddle on the belly pan would it not?
I think it's the oil filler cap problem.

Look at us being sensible :D

on top of the engine thanks

sounds like the oil filler cap hasn't been tightened properly. Take it off and re-attach it. Should click into place I think?

@Ming, does the cap click into place? YOu have a diesel don't you?

Er yep. . .

Don't hide Mondo. Ming won't attack the following:

1) Helpers.
2) Hippo owners
3) The stars of the Mondo and Slurry show.

Especially number 3 as that includes me :D

Hi, I think I know where the oil may be leaking from, on my td4 one of the allen screws that holds the plastic cover on near the oil filler cap, had oil all around it, and the threaded hole that it goes into goes right through the cam cover. ( ie it is not a blind hole), and it allows eng oil to leak up the thread.Landy tech told me this is normal, but he said he cleaned hole out and put some type of sealant on screw when re fitted, seemed to stop the leak, but unsure if this is 'normal'or not. Probably just another p-ss poor l/r design feature. rgds.:)
