Hi
I've noticed a lot of oil around and underneath the air intake temp sensor, I assume this is coming from inside the boost pipe and somehow leaking out, I've checked the thread and washer and that's all dry so it must be getting betwen the plastic sensor and the metal body.
Is this a common issue?
I see new ones are about £13.

Hi Mr K, is yours a 1.8 Freelander out of curiosity and did you get an OBD code of ‘intake air sensor fault’ or similar and that prompted you to inspect the said sensor? Did you also have a crank but not starting scenario? I have that now, and that code keeps coming up. Unplugging the wiring from the sensor revealed both the sensor and plug were damp in some questionable clear liquid.

Hi
Sorry I should have said that it's TD4.
It runs fine, no errors just some oil leaking out.

The pipe at the front and top of the engine? Mine has spewed some oil out there too. The pipe can rub and cause small hole in the pipe.

It’s leaking past the air temp sensor which is right on the top of the engine between the 2 boost hoses, it’s not a hole in the pipe.

Is it a proper leak, or just a creep of oil past the threads?
If the latter, then a few wraps of plumbers PTFE tape on the sensor threads will solve the issue.
