Figuring its about time I serviced the Disco (its a 300TDi by the way) and was wondering what the best type of oil filter removal tools people have?

I know there's strap ones, chain ones and 3 prong versions, what would you say is the best type to buy and why?

Always paid people to do stuff like this for me so think it's about time I got off my arse and learned to do it myself!

I prefer the 3 pronged one if I can get access. The strap one is also good, but once again, it depends on access. Sometimes a screwdriver belted through the filter casing works too!!

I know...asda get reet funny when you sit and have a coffee in their cafe as the oil drains into a woefully inadequate washing up bowl on their car-park.

I has a 3pronged one, A chain wrench (had it for about 15years) & a pair of these

which I like a lot (If theres enough access)

I bought a strap one from Aldi/Lidl, can't remember which one. Did the job for me & I hadn't changed an oil filter in 20 years...
