Finally got myself a Landy, in the form of a 1961 88" IIA. The guy who I bought it off had it for 14 years and replaced the 2.25D with the 2.5D from a Freight Rover.

He had it all ready for me to MOT, which I did yesterday and it sailed through. The only thing that needs doing to it is to find a replacement oil filler cap as the current one is only a short term fix.

LDV stockists say that the part is no longer made and that there might be a third party replacement. Does anyone know where I can find such a thing or at least a sturdy replacement?

Cheers!

Had a look at it, the part code for that is 19J15452C and I wouldn't know if the 19J and the 15J take the same filler cap.

I would have said they don't, as the 19J is a Land Rover engine and the 15J is an LDV engine.

Anyone know if this is the case?

No they are both Landrover engines - the one you have is the Landrover engine that went into the sherpa, the injection pump sits a little higher, the timing belt has 124teeth as apposed to 128 teeth in the 12J and 19J, the only difference in this engine is that you can change the timing belt in about 30minutes because you don't need to strip the water pump etc to get access.

This engine does not like wading as it doesn't have a sealed timing chest.

When it comes to parts, treat it as a LR engine, 12J or 19J, EXCEPT for timing belts etc...
