Hello
Just changed my oil and fitted new oil filter. I now have a few drips of oil running down the filter. I tightened the filter as tight as I could by hand. Is this enough? Should I tighten more with grips?
Any advice appreciated
cheers

it may bed in.did you fit the seal?

do not do too tight as you may crack the threads.hand tight on a new seal ought to suffice but if yers a weakling the a belt strap will help you tighten.they dunt need to be too tight.you will help it by giveing the mount a good clean before fitting the new filter.
carefull not to cross thread.

Had the same problem on a mates landy the other day. took it off made sure the rubber seal was in the correct place and put it back on. was fine after that. did you put some of the old oil on the rubber seal before you put it on?

I did rub oil on rubber seal and I did take care to make sure everything was clean before attaching new filter. Don't think i'd classify as weaklin and am no mister universe so Ive probably tightened it enough. Hopefully the seal will bed in and the drip stop.
Thanks for the advice anyway:rolleyes:

Are ye sure the oil is comin' from the filter and not the hose that goes to / comes from the cyclone breather?

Will check hose on sat. Meanwhile you seem a pretty knowledgeable geezer when it comes to landy's. One of my windscreen wiper arms is always slipping on the new spindle. Any thought on getting it to push fit and hold securely??

When ye say 'spindle', do ye mean this...

or this...

??

It might just be a case of tightenin' up the wee grub screw that holds the ferule thingy on....

or the splines in the wiper arm are worn .... or the wheel box might be on its way out.

Thanks for pics-very impressed. Top pic is what Ihave. Grub screws are tight. Mechanism is new and just replaced cable too. Ithink that the grooves on the wiper arms are worn so for now I have bonded them with apoxy metal. A bit clumsy I know but I had to drive in heavy rain today. I will buy new arms and I already have new spindles so that should sort that out.

Next problem is the wipers dont park and I have no intermitent just on and faster on- any thoughts on this??
