I have driven a 1,000 miles over the recommended mileage for an oil change - Have I done any damage to the engine by doing this? - 300TDi
Thanks Scabby

It will be fine. Just change it ASAP.

+1 ; the tiny tiny tiny increase in engine wear will not be measurable, and I would guess you might have knocked a few seconds off your engines lifespan.

Oil left in longer than the time limits on a change is more likely to do damage than a few extra miles...

A whole 1000 miles?
With a finely tuned race 300TDi???

Ruined!

;):p:cool:

Brill

Meanwhile...

You are lucky it still has oil in to be changed :p

My '200tdi Disco is constantly drinking lube oil so regularly topped-up with no need to go underneath to loosen the drain plug as its always new o_O

Think I need another engine

Rich.

My mates mk4 golf hasn't had an oil change in about 5 years as we chemical metaled over the drain plug when he hit a stone and cracked the sump

I told him it was a temporary fix and to get a new sump but its still going !!
