Thankyou to Griff for basically hitting the nail on the head. The core group was five people which then grew to and was capped at I think ten SLUTS members who were all passionate about Land Rovers.
I would dearly love to return to grass roots laning where it's just a bunch of like minded people enjoying their hobby without the pressure and expense of laying on a day out for other people.
I have always done the SLUTS runs in the interests of the group and for those who expressed an interest in tagging along, the emphasis was always for a fun, safe and well structured day out.
I was happy to do this quietly and and not seek the glory or kudos that others seek - a smile or a simple thankyou at the end of the day was more than enough for me to be satisfied of a job well done.
When as much time, input and effort has been put into something you are passionate about you do get a little protective of it when it could be threatened.....

just speaking the truth daft, my appologies if this gets peoples backs up. but if you take a step back and take a look at it for what it is, you will realise its a little petty on the grand scheme of things.

Had a flick through the thread. seems people are ultimately getting upset with eachother over who is organsing what and lots of assumptions on who should be doing what. This is not an organisation.
If you didnt have groups and brand yourselves none of this would happen. Why cant it just be mates who go laning? none of this S*L*U*T*S, C*U*N*T*S, B*O*L*L*I*X.
Someone can open a thread "hey im going laning down here@such and such does anyone want to come?". people tag along and things happen. If it was me I wouldnt allow people to say "ow its too far, can you come over this way a bit" no, im planning it, tag along or get stuffed.
This is the very reason I dont come along with you guys and would rather go by myself or 1 or 2 other vehicles. I organise/plan everything and my best laning mates know and respect that. Like *uck would i want to take someone who didnt appreciate it. Its a waste of your time and their time.
Keep it simple and small numbers with no group association.

I ****ing cannot be arsed to drive 120 miles to go laning if its gonna cause so much trouble. I was hoping to meet up again with the guys on here that I chat to, have some fun and drive my Land Rover.
Think I'll stick to the Surrey/Hants local stuff and save myself a load of fuel. Cheers for the suggestion, it sounded great at first.

Well I shall be going out on the 12th and doing the chippy run. and doing the plains or possibly the Ox Drove on the Sunday and anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome. Anyone who doesn't like it can stay away and shove their opinions and comments where the sun don't shine.

Furst this aint gonna cause me any trouble, It all kicked off when I posted my furst reply to this fred saying I aint got time to organise owt.
Pickey and Robin have now deceided to do the "Chippy Run" originally worked out and held last year, not organise summat new as I read the original intent.
For those who are / were plannin to pitch up I'm sure you'll have a good day out. The lanes are interestin an if the weather is good, views fantastic.
As I've said somewhere before, I carnt be asked to do this trip again, but that shouldn't stop anyone else enjoyin a day out.
