Finally got it finished and fitted.

Dont like the lid though!

MDF and ply, grooved, rebated and glued.

Vinyl covered, dense foam on lid top and side and front.

Lockable.

Nice. Agree about the lid, slightly more rounded corners and the application of some heat, not hairdryer but carefully with hot air gun, could give you a really top notch finish.
Hospital corners are so "Chips with everything" "Carry on Doctor" Ooooh Errrr Matron.

Can I sell my tat now please?

That lid looks like a recipe for sore elbows! Rounding off the corners and adding some foam under the vinyl might be more comfortable as well as better looking.

All the elbow edges have a 12mm layer of rubber foam under, top and edges, so no sores, they just look poor.

did try more rounded corners but the vinyl didnt like it. might try fabric next time, or sewn corners, need the other halfs experience for that.

Do like the fact i can rest the left arm on it when driving.

That lid definitely wants sorting, it looks like you're on the way to the post office with a book

Other than that, good effort 8/10

Good job.The lid would be better rounded off and done in fabric, fabric will stretch round the corners better.ps your arm won't stick to the fabric eather.
