really sorry to hear your bad news mate.
you will be very lucky to get away with no damage to the door frame. i hope yours is ok?

maybe the shyte paperthin hinges gave way first eh?

good luck with the new/SH door.

You got any photos Drew???
just curious to see how much the door collapsed from the impact

Will take some over the weekend in the light... no problem.

The paint is badly scuffed off where it contacted the edge of the front wing. The door is bowed out about an inch, at most, but it's enough to mean you can't get the bugger back on it's hinges, if only to keep it safe!

The hinges seem pretty malleable, which I'm hoping has saved me from needing the damn thing re-jigging! Fingers well and truly crossed...

Hi Cashy... door on, looks good... just need a set of rubber strips for the other doors and a matching wind deflector for the new door.

Happy that I'm mobile again though!

Sorry mondo, totally forgot the pics and the old door is now at the tip!

The damage was a pretty crappy looking crease in the edge of the door, which bent the edge out about 1cm. The hinges popped open (which I think saved the day!) and the boltholes in the frame needed a little tapping with a hammer, to get them flatter.

"New" door looks like the original apart from the rubber bump strip... but I'm going to get matching ones for the other doors, rather than take it off.

Also

Anyone know where I can get a slightly tinted wind deflecor, on it's own for the driver's door?

Nice one Drew!

Glad yer sorted mate !;)

good luck with yer Jockland trip :D And shut yer door when reversin  :p :D

Aye... the joy of Ebay and second hand parts is that the guy had left the window regulator, window and latch intact, so these (off my old door) will be going on Ebay asap to offset a bit of the cost! The regulator alone should fetch 30 squid or so...

Could really do with those rubber strips and the wind deflector though... plus I needs a new speaker in the door... only found out during the job that it's not working and probably hasn't been since I got the car!

Seen similar years ago. It was a brand new Rover 3.5 V8 Coupe Auto. The driver accidentally touched the throttle while in reverse. Not only did it rip the door off going through the garage opening, it kept going and went completely through the back wall of the garage.
