as the title says im off to rockingham castle for a LROAC training day with my misses, ive done a few pay and play days but feel i could do with some tutoring on off road techniques as ive got a lot to learn,

has anybody been and what did you think of it

regards mat

I went on one a few weeks ago at Rockingham, dad got it free when he bought his RR Sport and took me as a second driver.

It was a really good day actually although in true LR style, the RRS wouldn't start so we played around in a Disco 4 instead. The tracks aren't particularly extreme and each route has hardcore underneath so there's not really a chance of getting stuck but it's impressive what these vehicles can do out of the showroom. The instructors are very knowledgable, many of them are landy nuts anyway and it was interesting to be see the difference that proper use of terrain response can do also.

I still prefer bashing the 90 around a pay and play site though ;)

How was it? That site is just around the corner from me. I am doing Yarwell tomorrow for a bit but may do Rockingham next month. The only time I have seen the Rockingham site is when I was crawling around it with a barrel of water in the Pain and suffering race!!

the day was fantastic, rockingham castle ground were obviously tailor made to show what the vehicles are capable of in a safe manor, but the second half of the day we spent at yarwell which was fantastic, the lake in the middle was deep really deep but our instructor darren found a passing through it for us, the instructor was brilliant showed us alot of techniques and tailored a route around yarwell to really test my car, deffo going yarwell tomorrow now

I am always worried about damaging my disco so will be taking it easy!! I will follow you now you are a pro!!! Lol

Sorry, I was meant to ask before. How did a training day at Rockingham castle end up at Yarwell?

the morning was pretty quiet so we we started off at rockingham learning more about what the cars can do etc, but it got really busy after lunch so the instructor took us to yarwell to put in to practice what we learnt and how to assess your path etc

Very good mate, just watched all of them. How do you rate the Discovery's traction control?
awesome, you have to feed enough power in though for it to kick in, on my summer tyres it hasnt let me down so i can only imagine how good it is with at's or mud tyres on.
