I know it's of topic!
Lots of stealers on local radio stations advertising the freelancer 2 for what seems a not so bad price?
Anyhow, I'm not buying one but I was wondering? Are they about to face lift it?:rolly::rolly::love::bored:

As no-one from the Gaylander section can hear me in here I'll admit that I think that the new Freelander is a good looking car. Very much a baby Range Rover.
As for the pricing I wonder if the Evoque is hitting it's sales figures. Personally, given the choice, I'd rather have the Freelander, but I wonder how many people will buy the Evoque just to get a Range Rover badge?

There is a new Freelander coming out in 2015 Land Rover Freelander 3 ? latest spy pics | Autocar

I have recently bought a 2007 Freelander 2 HSE with 2.2 litre diesel auto and love it.

I bought it to replace my ageing Subaru Impreza Turbo and was concerned that I would miss the performance, but the Freelander has so much effortless low-down 'grunt' that I am perfectly happy to waft along and enjoy the ride.

The latest models have a more streamlined front bumper which ties it more to the Range Rover styling and in my opinion that is an improvement.

Being the HSE model it has all the bells and whistles, and it's big enough to feel imposing on the road, but not as huge as the RR/RRS. The Freelander's external dimensions are about the same as my Classic.

I wouldn't buy the Evoque due to its looks.

I think Land Rover's strategy is to more clearly define its model groups...
Utility i.e. Defender
SUV i.e. Freelander & Discovery
Luxury i.e. RR/RRS

I expect that there will be more similarities between the Freelander and Discovery in the future.

+1 I like it does anybody know what has changed since facelift to the all new 2 in anyway shape or form? Out of Curiosity:)

When I first saw this thread - I thought you were talking about the game.....which was pants....the freelander is a little less pants...but I am a dyed-in-the-wool RR fan....

This covers the MY2013 changes
News: Land Rover unveils the 2013 Freelander 2 - Torquingpoint

Any previous changes have been relatively minor (apart from the introduction of the SD engine)

...if it had a decent 4 wheel drive system I could even be interested...

I am going on a Land Rover experience day at Eastnor Castle in a couple of weeks so I will find out then how capable Freelanders are. I have taken my Classic to Pay & Play days in the past so I will be able to compare.

The concensus seems to be that the limitations are the reduced ground clearance and the lack of a low range box, but apart from those factors they are very well-regarded.

I went on a LR experience day, admittedly a while ago, the Freelander was useless on the rough stuff, the defender lost it's exhaust, but was the best by far on the mud, the P38 wouldn't start:rolleyes:

You describe the Freelander as "Not having a decent 4 wheel drive system" and "being useless in the rough stuff", but you've given us nothing to back these statements up with

Having done over 120,000 miles in various FL2's, including LRE's and green laning, the only serious wants I can find are the lack of low range and a weak clutch, both largely cured by moving to an auto. On the plus side, while being virtually the same size as a RR Classic and they are a lot smaller and lighter than any Disco or Range Rover made for many years (ignoring the Evoque for obvious reasons...).

I like the size and shape of the FL2, shame about the transmission. The FL3 is following the new penchant for ugly design IMO.

The new Disco Sport (FL3) has left me scratching my head a bit as to where to go next  Not sure if "ugly" is the word I'd use; it looks "nice", in a Waitrose car park kind of way, but it's not something that I'd have though that Volvo, VW, BMW and Mercedes already had "nice, but useless" covered! ;)

I'll hang on to the current FL2 for as long as I can and I'd buy another used one, when the time comes, if I can find a half decent one - but the Disco Sport? Thanks, but no thanks! :(
