So, I bought a magnetic phone thingy yesterday, the same as I put in the wife BMW. Problem is, it's fine on.road, but the slightest bump and the phone falls off.

What holders are people using? Preferably not a windscreen one, too far away.

Ram mounts are absolutely fantastic. The best out there

I use mine for satnav and music streaming. Very useful.
I use Tom tom, if I have to but always carry maps. and play discs, listen to the radio, cassettes or use an MP3 player through a gizmo that uses the tapedeck to play it.
I find it too much of a pain to have to wind the 78 rpm record player up all the time and changing discs is too tricky on the move.

Wifey though uses either her iPhone or her iPad to play stories through her digital radio. She may be 8 yrs older than me but she is a lot more "down with the kids" than I am!;);););)

Phone stays in my pocket, disco has a phone kit installed, Sat Nav which I rarely need it but goes on the screen that’s once a year if I do .
My normal car phone kit and Sat Nav are built in factory fit. Simples :)

you has a posher mota that wot I has!

I used several including the ones that come with Garmin and TomTom but they all failed eventually. Then I bought this, which comes with a stability mount that supports the weight and holds everything in place. 3 years on and it's still 100%.

Edit - Noticed the URL is not showing. Just search for "Mpow Windscreen Car Mount Grip Flex Universal Long Arm Windshield Car Cradle with Extra Dashboard Base" on Amazon UK

Another vote for RAM. For off road use you need to go with the larger diameter ball. Otherwise it will slip.
They can be attached to the windscreen - very large suction disc, but I have a phone mount, a camera mount and a tablet mount all bolted to the upper dash using a RAM mounting rail. On a D2 the area under the little rubber mat fits perfectly.
