MASON where is your alpine sat nav speaker, mine is behind the wee bit of cloth to the left, the speaker is faulty, can i just replace it with any small speaker that fits in there;)

Do you mean the bit under the clock? I think that's the climate control temp sensor jobbie not a speaker.

Wouldn't the sat nav audio come out of the car stereo speakers?

Guy

with a car pc you can have various different sat nav systems on there, you can have mobile broadband so there is very little chance of getting lost!! it will do everything you can do in the home and car in one unit(obviously you havr to have usb gps reciever, bluetooth dongle and usb broadband adapter) you can buy ready made kits or you can build your own from basically whatever pc bits you have kicking around!!

you can spend loads or very little and you can tailor it to the car/owner preferance.

have a look for centrafuse, its the leading front end software and its quite impressive!!!

I keep thinking about doing this. Have you actually built and installed one?

Any chance of some details? Presumably you have the screen where the satnav would go?

No Mystic, Kooky Guy is partly correct. The small cloth bit near the clock is the interior temp sensor. On mine (1998), the stanav speaker is under the dash more or less in line with the steering column. I'm not sure if later models had the same or it was through the radio system.

Mystic means the little cloth bit where the last switch usually is above the clock.

Is that switch position ever populated?

Hi Guy
Not sure what you mean by the little cloth bit above the clock - mine's below. The last switch position on the left (blank on yours) is for the high/low range on manuals.
Cheers

look back at my picture, the last 'blank' switch on the left has been modified and a tiny speaker fitted behind it and a bit of speaker cloth covering the hole.

as this is not oem sat nav im assuming they had to fit a speaker somewhere

Ah, sorry Mystic. I'm on a ship at the moment and pictures on here for some reason are blocked by the company so I couldn't actually 'see' what you were meaning. I understand now. Sorry for the confusion!
Cheers
