Sure it's been asked many times.......but do you go to the main stealer for your parts, fluids, sundries etc?
Or is there a good reliable independent supplier selling quality parts?
Thanks from a newbie finding his feet
Tim

Hi Tim,

I Never use the LR dealer, genuine or OEM parts can be purchased from other sources.

If you want genuine / equivalent parts then look for a G suffix after the part number.

I use :

Lrdirect
island 4x4
JGS 4x4

Cheers

Typical rip off, cold climate fluid for the power steering, LR wanted over 22 quid for a half litre, you can get exactly the same stuff on the bay for around £16. Still expensive though.
Fluids and filters, from wherever is cheapest. If you change them regularly you shouldn't have trouble.
For parts, I do look at the recommended sellers on the bay, most of them do sell on there, but if the parts aren't available on there, I'll usually google the part number, if I have it and see what suppliers pop up.
I only use local motor factors or Halfrauds if I really need the part urgently.

Just purchased a Mann fuel filter for 14 quid says made in Israel

Funny as the genuine one I looked at not long ago said made in Israel which was 50 quid

Manufactures and dealers make a bloody fortune out of spares. Main dealer discount from the factory was in my day 68%. Trade discount was normally 30% but could rise to 40% or 50% on certain items. Now you are lucky to get 20%.
