Hasn't it done something like 125K miles? If so all the bushes and shocks will be well past there best

Yup 123k now, could well be the shocks.
Obviously I won't be asking the local garage, so any advice on what to get, who to use, etc?

Just done get **** ones, OE or carefully researched aftermarket
.I'm going to have to make some of those stickers aren't I

Front Monroe Adventure Strut fits Land Rover FREELANDER (LN) 1.8 i 16V (P/N# D0003) PAIR I got mine for 70 each and they're yellow .
These are the ones I need then:
