Evening,

On the drive home today at any point where I moved the steering wheel there was what I can only describe as a moan from somewhere either in the dash or the engine bay,

I can only assume its coming off the steering column !

Ideas as a brief search turned up nothing, appears to only groan once its come up-to temp !

I have a moo-ing noise from mine sometimes and my fluid is OK. It did this in the Discovery that I lifted the power steering from too so I know it's probably the steering box. Maybe it's the same on yours?

Not sure, my first Discovery did it too and was perfectly OK the whole time I owned it, apart from the noise. My steering is getting a little notchy so I suspect I may have issues but if yours feels OK then I wouldn't worry too much.

Just had a look,

Steering fluid level is at 80%,

Thinking about it, its always been heavy, even more so than my 90,

Greased all the joints on the steering column but it still makes the groaning noise lol

Hi

I had a similar problem with my Disco with the steering being very heavy while parking and the odd groan when turning the wheel. I replaced the steering pump with a new genuine parts one and it was much better but not as good as it should be and I still had the occasional moan.

I can not afford a new steering box at the moment but that is my next thought

Regards

Jonathan
