I have been looking on the net and notice there are a lot of companys doing these diagnostic kits that connect to your laptop, black box solutions do the faultmate msv for the range rover p38 for about £600 there are also others all at diffrent prices i found a company that do a kit called the elmscan5 for about £150 from OBD2 Scantool Engine Diagnostic Scan tools and numerous others company's doing similar kits.
Does any one have any experiance with these and whats best as there is quite a diffrence in the pricing and their capabilities, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can't beat the Rovacom.
Handheld scantools are very limited and do not allow resetting of faults-if it finds them.

havent found a handheld scantool that comunicates to rr at all even my solus is limited to what codes it will pull out even then i still have to refer to my books not worth the money these handheld scanners they seem to have even more trouble scanning early vauxhalls too the only codes a h/h scanner will read are generic p codes which most cars after 02 i think generate but that is only emission related and not specific running faults
