My 2001 Range Rover 4.6HSE AC/Heater blower motor is stuck on "High" I can't seem to get it to slow down. I can change from heat to cool and change vent distribution so the heater, AC and blend motors seem to be working fine.

On my display I have a book and exclamation point which according to the manual means that the system is in a self diagnostic mode and should be taken to the dealer for repair. No other information is given.

I know that on earlier models there was a AC/Heater Blower Motor Resistor that could be replaced to solve such a problem but according to Atlantic British it is not made for my model year. It appears to me that mine is most likely controlled from a computer module which is why the dealer is suggested.

Before I bend over at the dealer I thought I would check and see if anyone here has had a similar experience and/or any suggestions. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Best put your location in the details, as someone with a diagnostic device might be close to you and offer a fault reading service...

My first guess is a duff dial, they have been know to not respond to inputs....

But until you can get the codes read from the HEVAC system as to why the testbook symbol is lit, you could be chasing your tail.

Thanks for the advice. I am located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I assumed that it would take some computer or electronic diagnostics....just not sure if there was an inexpensive unit for that or if I needed a dealer/repair shop to make the diagnosis.

Here in the UK, we have a choice for the home mechanic....

Bearmach Hawkeye V5 - Around £350-£400
Blackbox Solutions FaultMate FCR £275-£300
Blackbox Solutions FaultMate MVS Extreme £500 or more (not sure)
Blackbox Solutions Nanocom Evolution £375-£400

I am sure they will all supply and ship the the US but aren't cheep....but with a P38 will be worth it in the long run if you intend to keep the vehicle for any length of time.

Best to just run it into a dealer and ask them to read the Faultcodes....in the UK this will set you back between £50-£100 or so....

Before you figure out what has brought the Testbook symbol to appear, you could spend more on trying to figure out whats wrong.

Had the same problem but stuck on low.

O Rings Part 1

above link (a few pages on) shows the repair i did. (All credits to the author) the metal comb had separated from the dial and therefore no input received from the dial to the HeVAC. Worth checking and easy repair.....
