I am considering buying a LR discovery td5 auto 53 plate it has a full service history (not LR) and has moved from Kent to Cheshire over the 9 years. My concern is that it has had 6 previous owners in its 9 year history, the average I have seen is 2-3 owners should this be ringing alarm bells? :confused: Also it has had a brand new Witter tow bar fitted prior to being traded in for a Jeep Cherokee....ugh!! Any thoughts???
 
Give it a right going over first, if you know what to check for. If not,Take some one with you that knows about them. Get he/she to check it over before you buy it. There are plenty of disco's around so don't jump at the first one. As for the owners, does it really matter that much, who's to say 3 out of the 6, just really didn't like owning a landy. with the service history, it should be fine provided its been done by a good garage. Finally, with it being moved from kent to cheshire, mine was first bought in devon, and has spent the the last 16yrs working its way up to lancashire. If your not happy with it, don't buy it
 
I have a 2004 td5 which on paper has had 4 owners me being the 5th spoke to the owner who gave me a copy of all old logbooks it's was his company car he then bought it then his wife ran it in her name then she passed away so he changed it back into his name it's been a good vehicle for me

Could have fitted the towbar then decided it didn't match his boat when it was hooked up, lots of us make that mistake:D

Fortunately mine matches the helicopter so I'm keepin it:)
 
I will not buy a used car from wet and cold areas of the UK eg Wales NI and most of Scotland .They usually have been exposed to more water and salt, optimum areas are Cambridgeshire Northants etc.The coastal areas should of course be avoided.

Yes it can be harsh living in the hostile wastelands of 'the north.' My cousin in Aberdeen has to leave his landy permanently running, if he switches it off for even a minute the fuel in the tank will freeze....

I live by the coast in an inhospitable place called 'Lancashire' where the weather is so extreme even a short drive down the promenade at Blackpool results in my inner wings rotting from all the salty spray.

Only last week my Brother was working down t'pit in a harsh barren place called 'Cardiff' and when he came up after his shift had finished, he found his Disco had filled with rain water right up to it's extended breathers, that's why nobody lives in Wales anymore you see, he's one of the last few remaining.

It's probably best you avoid travelling at all to these remote wilderness places of the UK if you don't want to get your baseball cap wet.

Anyway you're making me well jel, Cambridge sounds well lush so shut up!

lmao. I to live on the coast(no i really do), and to be fair my disco still has its inner wings, as did my other. I get what the other guy was saying. However if is undersealed, and kept clean and tidy then it shouldn't be any more rust than normal

Completely normal just the other dude was making sound as thou you would just have a pile of rust by the next morning lol. Surpose my answer should have been. Its a disco it will rust no matter where you get it from.

Truth! I live in the Pennines, about 3 miles from Hebden Bridge. The water rising up from inside the rotting boot floor has forced the whippet to float out the holes in the sun roof seals!

Shut up, when i lived in cambridge (born & bred)we got more salt on the roads in the winter than we ever do in sunny leics.
