As title really, intermittently the nsr suspension goes to wade height. It appears that if it is locked in motorway that it jumps to normal but I haven't been able to verify this it just 'feels' like it! Seems to happen less if suspension is in manual motorway mode. Codes stored are vehicle moved (shock! ) and rl sensor incorrect. I replaced the sensor with a known good one even though I suspected that it was storing the code because it was doing something it hadn't been asked to.

I have checked wiring in ns a post, cleaned the earths near the eas box, I have a valve block o ring kit as the front does a bit of a dance when in traffic and in neutral but I don't think that is the cause of this fault, although I am willing to be proved wrong! Airbags are less than a year old.

Research would point to driver pack but before I take the plunge and order a used one just wondered if anyone has had a similar issue.

check the driver pack connections (both of them). Mine had loose contacts inside the 12-pin valve connector. . . .so even the replacement driver pack had weird errors. Once I fixed these I was able to find that the original pack also had bad wires going into the gunk.

Had all the connections apart in the eas box and they all seem fine but its worth another check!

Yep sensor recalibrated and new heights stored.

Just seems strange that it isn't going to a random height but to the exact measurement for wade which makes me think it's been told by ecu to go to that height. What are the chances of an ecu causing that?
 
Starting to think my alleged known good sensor might be the issue here. Think I'll try swapping side to side and see if the fault moves over as well.

If they are the version that can be swapped side to side, swapping may just clear the problem. Check the connectors are abolutely clear of corrosion and they are a tight fit on the pins.
 
No specific side mentioned when I ordered it so hopefully non sided. Have been through connections but will have another look and close the pins up a bit when I swap it.
 
If there the multi side sensor when you swop sides they use a part of the track that has never been used
also will need calibration again

What's the difference? Just different manufacturers or different years take different sensors?
 
MY 1997 and on sensors are interchangeable side to side. Before that they are not.
 
Well swapped them over and fault has moved. Cue email to seller to ask for another!! Top marks to those that suggested sensor looks like it's the culprit. Fits in with it messing about after I took the caravan off the back with the door open....

Ask for you money back and get a new one, second hand are a waste of time, almost certainly near end of life.

Good point but didn't want to spend that kind of money until I knew it was definitely the fault. Are there any issues with using pattern ones from eBay or is genuine the best way?

i orderd new front ones last year from island 4x4 and they came in britpart boxes. No problems so far.

I got mine from Island 4 x 4, they were not Britpart, I think they were OEM at about £60 a pop. A new one will last 10 years or so, for me a good investment as I intend keeping the car until I can no longer drive.
 
Thanks for the advice, by a nice coincidence Island seem to be the cheapest as well! Might add a fusebox to the order as well as I've noticed an unattractive burning smell emanating from it.....Now that I will buy new as i intend to keep it a while too.

Make sure you get the correct fuse box. They differ a lot. :);)
