Well the deal is done. I went to look at an 87 reg 90 that was on eBay. The chassis alone swung it. Better nick than our 03 Disco 2. Also a nice matched colour scheme. Yes there are things to do, like sort out some leaks and check fluids, and the odd track rod end, but I think (hope) I have got a good one for the age. It even has a 200 tdi conversion.
Here's just a few pics, although they don't really do the chassis justice.

This pic with the rust bulge in the chassis side, give it a seeing to with a hammer as theres several layers there and they rot badly from the inside out.

Also worth checking where the bump stops are, as they are rust traps.

Looks pretty.

Cheers

Yes, good points chaps, but still, at least its not as bad a s many I have seen and I am under no illusions that I will have the welder out soon. Lol

Our vehicles are practically cousins, mine's a D333 reg, mate of mine has a D332 Ninety. Prefer the original look normally, but have to say I do like the look of yours. More pics of the Landy itself would be nice.

Thanks for the positive comments. I will get some more photos taken to post. These are the advert ones. I will take some of the engine bay, as I would welcome thoughts in the conversion quality. Having said that it needs a thorough clean. The rocker gasket has gone some time ago I think and so it has a unhealthy covering of oil. Explains why the level is v low. :(
It cost me £3300 which I am hoping wont turn out to be too bad a deal.
Bluedog. We just need to find 334 and we have a family. :)

Well, that should take care of your weekends for the next few months. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. Looks nice.

Looks bang tidy! As long as she's mechanically and structurally sound, then I'd say £3300 is a great price, considering the silly money some are going for.
Keep an eye out for the D330s, they're about and get an extra wave! (sad, I know!).

As promised the very mucky engine bay. Note the nice blue insulation tape joining the glow plug wiring and also the fact the heater matrix has not been plumbed in. Otherwise, it looks ok to my untrained eye, although I could be very wrong. lol

Only thing to mention is the heater seems to have been bypassed....may want to look at that, you may not notice any difference though ;)

Thanks. Does the installation look reasonable to you?
Looks fine. The Defender 200 is pretty much a straight fit, the Disco engine requires a bit more tinkering. As gse1986 has said, the heater matrix has been bypassed, not sure why they would have done that?, either they didn't have the right pipe work available at the time, or it leaks ( hope for the first one! ). It's not an issue, you'll just be lacking a bit of warm air in the cab for the winter!

It seems there was a new matrix put in but never plumbed in again. I thought i might make up some elbows and link in the two pipes that run to the back if the head and has a not too clever bend.

Ive recently thought I bet theres a small but steady market for a copy grp heatshield, cheap enough like 50 quid and I reckon it would sell.
