I have a 1974 series 3 with bad/ dangerous steering. Ihave replaced seering drop link and ball joints and greased up relay. Slightly better now.
Ihave bought a second hand series axle But I have noticed the arms the steering drag link attaches to are on the bottom of the wheel/swivel housing, the one that is on the vehicle has these on top. Is this an issue for me?
All help as allways very much appreciated.
I have searched and cant find an answer to this question.

they should be on the bottom for a series 3 1974 ,you have earlier series 2 axle with pendant style arms

James, it is on the log book 1974 series 3 so can I swap the Ball joints upside down and fit it. It is the right way up and id marks on axle state series 3 when I do internet search.

id say someone just fitted an earlier axle at one time, no youd need different arms etc

yes I think so. To recap the later axle has the arms on the bottom (which is my replacement) The earlier one (which is buggered and on the car) has them on the top.
So I can just keep the track rod ends and drag relay that came with the second Newer axle which I am using as the replacement.SXimples......i hope.
