Hi can anyone advise what wheels I've got here? (See pic) They were on my defender when I bought it and I think they're off a discovery but not 100 percent sure.
The tyres on it are 235/70/16 Insa turbo mountain which I understand to be a reasonable tyre...for a remould...
Anyway, I need to identify the wheel so that I can be sure I go and buy the right new tyres before an offroad day next weekend and I don't know whether a normal car garage would know which tyres I could safely go to without trial and error (which might leave me stuck with the old tyres at the weekend).
Again i think the wheel type is critical to my tyre choice because I am planning on buying some BFGs and would like to put some "bigger" tyres than I have currently got (the gap between the top of the current tyres and the wheel arch seems quite big compared to many other landys ive seen (see pic) and i presume a small gap means a bigger tyre which means better offroad capability - alot of assumptions there - probably all wrong!), but I just want a nice straight forward quality tyre replacement which does the business offload (without having to fit spacers or worry about rubbing etc). Actually, for all I know it's already got spacers fitted!
Anyway, to summarise my waffling, help appreciated in:
1) identifying wheel
2) confirming max standard tyre on this wheel when fitted to a defender 90 (1993) without modification.
3) is there any way that I can see if a spacer is fitted without removing wheel? Or does the current tyre mean there would not be a spacer needed?
4) anyone been on a David Mitchell landcraft snowdonia adventure day and recommend it?
Cheers.
