Hi guys Neville.d here i am new here thankyou for excepting me .
I bought a freelander 1 2002 TD4 m47
engine in very good condition.However it does not drive ,previous owner replaced the hp feul pump without locking the engine . Can the timing be out because it just swings at the moment and not wanting to start can anyone please send me pic of the camshafts position with no 1 piston at tdc please

TD4 has a timing chain, if there is any timing issue, you will be good for stripping down the whole engine.

I will start by cheking fueling issue

1 When you buy the car, does the car had already a starting issue ?
2 When you turn the key does the belt is turning ?
3 Does the engine try to start and then stop ?
 
Have you read the codes? - that’s the best place to start really.
Could be something silly like the cam position sensor…
 
I wouldn’t go ‘throwing’ bits at it when you don’t know what the issue is.
Read the codes first…

hi Freddy do you know if the cam lopes is correct in the pic there is no markings on the sprockets .piston1 at tdc
 
… well you won’t be reading any codes like that
I know just want to know if the cams is in the right position ,remember the hp pump was replaced without locking the engine or doesn't it affect the timing

So many questions on this one.
Did the HP pump fail?
Did the previous owner use the correct tools to free the pump shaft?
Did the previous owner remove the timing chain?
Was the HP pump drive cog correctly fitted?

If the HP pump is changed correctly using the correct tool that holds the sprocket and chain in position while pump is changed then the timing is not affected. The pump is not 'timed' to the engine. BUT if done incorrectly the chain could have been let loose and the timing altered.

The cam positions are checked with a special tool see the manual
This holds them correct while chain is fitted.
