I've inherited a RRC project from a friend of mine as he cant get any joy out of it. Basically, even with a good alternator on it it wont charge the battery. I put a new battery on today and its running at 11.6 volts whilst idling.

Now ive noticed that the rev counter doesnt work, and i read half a post on here that the rev counter obtains its pickup from the alternator, and that a fault with something on the dash may cause the alt not to supply a charge.

Anyone got any advice on this?

I also tried and failed to find a main engine fusebox / fusible links (as i imagine its got a meaty great fuse for the charging line).

Alternator is Duff or wrongly connected, do you get the ignition light on the dash when you turn on?

w connected to alt light and visa ersa??

but..no it aint a coicidence..

My rev counter used to drop out when I had problems with the alternator on my 1988 RRC.
