My disco is an auto,
After harrowing a field the transfer temp light came on so I left it a while,
Now it won't change gear from 1st it will go into park, reverse ok, the accelerator pedal feels slack/loose/easier than normal to depress,
I've had a nosey under the bonnet and there's two cables running to a black steel pivot, the lower cable is slack bagging down but solid to pull,
I was wondering if this could be anything to do with it not changing gear 😳
Really csatching my head now 😣 desperately need help please ✌🏻️

All the dash lights are ok, and the selector lights up as it should

Do the M & S lights flash on the dash?
Also does the selector light on the gear surround indicate correctly?

Sorry to hijack this thread but I had the same problem with the m and s lights flashing but no one on here seemed to know what it meant, do you know Alex?

When the M&S lights flash this usually means the gearbox has gone into 'Limp Mode' (basically 3rd Gear only).

The problem causing this could be one of many things from poor battery life, xyz switch fault, bad earth, blown fuse, dodgy box etc... too many to mention really.
If the gear selection disappears from the dash and gear surround this usually indicates that it is down to an XYZ Switch fault.

Cheers Alex, yes mine is an XYZ fault
