Sorry Craig, thought I'd put next saturday 15th .. or 16th if people prefer.

Saturday best for me though.

Can't do midweek, working! Going to try and concentrate on lanes near the Miners, don't know the area much, other than Hollinsclough, so looking at lanes between Matlock and Hollinsclough area ... Lots of little ones with a couple of longer lanes, all look open, but when we went last week the closest lane has a new restricted byway status sign put up! Be a bitch if they all have ....

You did I just don't read it properly

We will have to meet up after Xmas and put together what information we all have. Hopefully I might squeeze a few midweek recces in with David.

haha thats the problem with lanes round here, drops everywhere! how did you find grizedale ? the muddy hill climb part must have been a little bit of a bastard

its a good lane, didnt have any bother really. i towed my brother up nearly all of it, only had FWD due to broken uj :D

ahh right, I thought it might have been a bit slippy due to all the rain we'd had

haha was his the one which looked a lot more bog standard than all you lot

Anyone up for another recce next weekend?

Davidsally, CraigyB, anyone else who's a leader? Maximum 6 vehicles. I suggest we meet, have a chat about lanes we want to check out or mini-routes any of us have and decide where we can go. I've checked the map around the area of the pub we're staying at and there's quite a few I've never done, it's not normally an area we cover .. ;)

Can I suggest we meet in Bakewell at the Bakewell Bridge Car Park SK 220 686, say 9am. There are a couple of lanes I've not tried near there that look reasonable, and I have a 'new' route going via Matlock back to the Miners, then around that area .. no clue as to how good the lanes are. I know a couple are restricted byway status now, but the others are harder to pin down to status, so we need to see them 'on the ground' to see what the signage is like ... IF we're going to use them!

If anyone (Craig?) has a complete route planned for the trip, this might be a good time to bring it along so we can each recce a few lanes when we're able to, rather than having to arrange separate meets/runs when we have time!

Despite what I just posted about Chapel Gate and treadlightly post on Facebook, it might be interesting to see if they've actually opened it yet too .... ;)

Bumping this as a reminder ... ;)

Anyone welcome, can't say how the day will turn out 'cos it's a recce, some/none/all of the lanes may be restricted status by now, they've been hard to track down! If we're striking out on a lot of them I'll probably just 'do' a couple of nice lanes and go home 'straight' as the sat nav takes us .. :) As with any recce, we'll hopefully get a few good, new lanes found, but we may also be back-tracking and re-covering places we 'think' we remember! It'll be a good day though .. ;)

Tomorrow, saturday 15th, Bakewell bridge Car Park SK 220 686, 9am.

May I suggest that when you have route ( or 2) planned, it might be worth passing them to the ROW ossifer, just to confirm status, any qualms he mite have, and for his "approval".
It can't do any harm, mite gain a few brownie points, and would reduce the chance of local complaints (sensitive area/ nasty 4x4's/ etc) from arising.

No worries, MHM, the routes I have at the mo' are just for 'new' lanes around the area of the camp where we don't usually go, sort of mini-routes to take in as many as I can on the recces. Good thought though, and as we're almost talking to ROW officers anyway I think it'll fit in with what they already know of us.

I think Craig has an idea of the full route already, but I'm mostly looking at decent lanes that might better suit RR's, FL's etc and are as non-scratchy as the Peaks do!

'course, if I find rip-snorters too, all the better .. :)

Had a great day!

'Found' a couple of decent fords, couple of very decent lanes and did Chapelgate!

Videos of Davidsally fording later .. when botophucket allows!

Some more non-scratchy, some really picturesque too, and a few scratchy and a bit gnarly .. ;)

David fording .. hopefully he'll post mine doing the same fords!

Certainly Dave and I had never done these fords, one of which, the first one, is on a non-scratchy lane that is so picturesque and beautiful it almost made the day on it's own! I had deliberately tried to 'do' lanes around the camp area that I've not done before, David also found some of them new .. they're not all Byways, some are jusy unclassified roads, and one is even classified, but a little beaut! so few 4x4's drive them as 'the usual' lanes are more towards the North.

We also did Tissington ford .. we were so close it'd have been impolite not to .. but that's just a 'normal' watersplash ford! ;)
