I don't think they are doing trips at the moment. I haven't seen anything on here for ages.

Been up to Rudland Rigg today. I was heading north and wanted to check out the track that goes right at the cross roads and descend to Monket house. There were a couple of Isuzu pickups parked up at the cross roads. Both identical, dark green with ifor Williams covers on the back no ranger or estate stickers on them. They told me that that track was closed and it was their job to stop people driving down the track. When I asked about TRO's they didn't seem to reply with anything coherent just kept saying it was closed.

Does anyone know if this section has a TRO on it? And if so where can I find a copy of the TRO. The two lads in the pickup certainly didn't have a copy of it

Can't help you with any info on this but will certainly be interested to hear if anyone knows about it.

The best way to find out things like this is to join GLASS or the TRF, this gives you full access to trailwise which the local rep will keep up to date.

There are a couple of lanes which have temporary TROs in that area, Percy Rig and Battersby. Neither of those fork off Rudland and the latest on trailwise is below. So you would have been OK

If someone is trying to stop traffic on a road, albeit a green lane, shouldn't they have to provide some sort of I.D. and authority?

I've had a look on the NYMNP website and there isn't a TRO listed. I've emailed the national park authority and asked them to clarify things

I've had a very prompt reply from the North Yorkshire National Park authority. The road from Monket house to Rudland Rigg is not closed. In their reply to me they also copied the game keeper for the moor in, and he lives at Monket house! I wonder if he doesn't like seeing people driving up the track near his house? I didn't go check but I wonder if there is now a locked gate at or near Monket house. In their reply to me (and the game keeper) they stated it was an offence to deliberately block access to an open BOAT. I'll be heading up there again soon ish and will be ignoring anyone who states that the road is 'closed'

You might find that there was a shoot day on hence why they were blocking the road, not really an excuse but a possible explanation. Even if there was a shoot on they could of just asked you to hang fire till the drive was finished instead of just flat out trying to deny you access.

That was my initial thought that there was a shoot on and they were passing through but the two lads confirmed no shoot was on and the road was 'closed'.
