if its a 300 then removing the stat aint that good an idea. its a 3 port valve, engine via bypass (inc heater matrix) when cold (shuts rad off), engine via rad when warm (shuts bypass off). removing stat allows circulation of least resistance, ie the bypass and not the rad!
if it aint a 300, then i'll shut up!

not necersarily, if the systems full of water then the pump will pump it wherevers easiest. a bit thru the matrix, bit thru the rad, and a chunk thru the bypass.
if the systems low on water, the pump being high on the 300, leaves it cavitating, and water wont be pumped anywhere. thats where the head problems are gonna start, hgf or warping.
is it loosing water or pressurising?
 
Just put stay back in and its holding temp quite well to say the water pump pullys worn a hole in the pipe ( will try post a pic lol) think it was a that the stat was removed causing my problems on going as the rad had got some bent horizontal bars which may be restricting the flow enough to stop it working right , gonna fix the hose and put the newly aquires bracket that hold it off the pully on and see how it goes , i now have a decent rad and intercooler to fit should it need it ....see what happens :)

Gotta get it fix now r lass has passed her test she wants the golf so i need landy to get to work

decked it in garage.. free ride to hospital, just vwanted a go in summat faster than his fender... lol...

blocked blood supply to heart opened with a stent and on the mend...
