What are people's favourite lane around Penrith/Keswick? I live at Blencarn (10 miles east of Penrith) and it would be great if there was something around crossfell/north pennines.

OS refs/google earth/photos are all good!

Cheers

Sam

Lots of good lanes in the lakes, I'm not going to give you grid refs tho.

Join GLASS use trialwise, join a club, add you name to a trip !!!!

I have used glass/trailwise and it's turned up some good stuff however, that doesnt exactly say what people's favourite's are does it? That just shows lanes.

I'm not hugely bothered about joining a club to be honest, not really my thing

in your first post you asked for grid ref's co-ordinates names etc.

If youre a glass member and have used trailwise. And go about driving lanes legally then it should really be quite apparent as to why we wont be providing you with lanes info.

Still not getting it???

Because of the hard work involved in finding lanes and finding out if its legal to drive them. Only to have some t^*t go up there and make a mess of it. im not saying your a t^*t but this is an open forum and anyone can read this, landyzone member or not.

I know which lanes are my favourites and i want them to stay open and be dickhead free.

I dont share lane info unless ive driven with people and have know there responsible.

Sorry if this all seems a bit bizarre and harsh to you but unfortunately i think this is the way it needs to be so we can all keep enjoying our hobby.

Well fair play. To be honest I have never thought about it like that. I only really drive "offroad" in a work capacity, I do a fair bit of it, and I am not that bothered about getting a truck stuck, winching it out, and wearing Special tracks because it looks cool.

The reason I fancy laning is because I am recovering from a broken shin so my normal way of getting around mountains - climbing - is off limits. I miss the solitude of being in wild places (hence the lack of club enthusiasm) so using one of the landies or the quad to get out is a pretty easy way of getting my fix.

I really wasnt stereotyping you, but you wouldnt believe the amount of people who go out to get stuck and fling a load of mud.

I dont know if its a mix of uneducated people that dont know because people havent told them and explained that these "greenlanes" are public roads and the usual rules apply. Or if they genuinely dont give a flying hoot and are only out to satisfy themselves and dont care that it ruins everybody elses fun.

Its a hard one to call, do you try and educate people and hope they understand? if they dont youve given them more information and lanes to ruin. Or do you hold back on the info and preserve the lanes you know and they stick to what there doing and ruin the ones they know.

Anyway.....moving on.

If you want to drive a few lanes and have a good day out, sign up for one of the trips. Most people on here are open to noobies to there group if your polite and listen to them. After youve been a few times and can contribute to the group etc people will usually open up and show you how to find your own lanes, and you go from there. You share with them and vice versa.

Enjoy and all the best

Matt
