Hi everyone im a spectator of the site for many years.

I got my first defender last week and wanting to get some greenlaneing

I have a few os maps.weardale teesedale ect.

I know doctors gate is at hamsterley but is unmarked on my map?any one know why.

Plus anyone know any other areas what are ok.
Plus is ther a club on here from the north east

Doctors gate is marked as an orpa (red domeeton my map though I cannot confirm its current status. You go over the bridge in Wolsingham and up wear bank. Bear straight on onto a single track road at the top and past St John s hall. Through a gate at the end of the metalled road (not right) and onto a fell track. The track bears left but the orpa goes straight on, the mud ruts mark the way and this is the worst part, and is generally accepted that driving in this direction downhill will do less damage than driving the route in the opposite direction. At the bottom you will go through a gate in to hamsterley forest on a forest track. 2 fords later you come out near the tolls and the route continues right left on tarmac and a right up a track past the mountain bike bit. All from memory not driven it in over 10 years.

There is a definitive map on the council wall in wolsingham square.

There is a newer byway near the top of red gate banks heading over towards tunstall resevoir , never driven it.

Might be worth your while joining nero for up to date info and they'll mark up your maps if you take them along to their pub meet plus you could tag along with them for a day out landing or trialing

Hi mate.
Mine isnt marked at all i dont think.

How would i join this club
 
North east rover owners club. Google them. The trialling is good fun if you don't take it too seriously, they trial at west woodburn and Herrington woods just near you. Youll need rock sliders though to protect you sills. Rtv road taxed vehicle trials are designed to be safe to drive without smashing your car up but they will advise sliders.

Pass. It is marked on my old landranger. It is a nice lane but the rutted stretch has always been fair weather north to south. A kind of voluntary restraint thing. We have had an influx of quads buggies and all makes 4x4 tw4ts of late in weardale driving anything that doesn't have locked gates.

Do you green lane?
 
Not anymore. Not got a land rover at the mo, been 2 years and just got the ground in grease washed off :p

Did you lose a hawk 2 years ago near frosterley?
Could be one of them small world moments
 
No ive never lost a hawk mate.

Ive lost one for few hours before when flying at phesant but found it.

Do you know any lanes in stanhope or frosterley
