We spent a night at Loch Ness first and then went on the North Coast 500. Some pics for those interested.

We took the seats out and put a matress in the back. I have had the rear windows tinted which would have been nice at the time!

Really great trip and recommended.

I've read about that, must give that a try. Did you do it all in one day, or take your time and stop over one or two nights?

Yeah it is amazing sceneary. I can upload more images if you want to see some of the views.

We stayed a total of four nights, three in The Beast and 1 in a hotel. Because we needed a shower. Have since got a roof tent I picked up cheap locally and am sorting that out as well as looking at getting some sort of shower system. Was around 1500 miles total, got 18mpg on the run up and 23.4

Hope you remembered to wash the salt water off when you got home.
Spong, 500 miles of single track road, most of it, and wandering sheep does not make it a fast trip.
Before it became famous I have covered it with a Peugeout 406 and caravan in tow.
Quite exciting when you meet people who do not know what passing places are for.
To enjoy the run give yourself time.

Great pics!
Great looking Landie!
Is yours a V8 then?
Mark
Edit: Just checked, its a diesel! Good many miles you've totted up!

Thanks. It's a 300tdi with upgraded head gasket...looking at getting the intercooler upgraded also. The tinted windows have made it look much better and in the back I have put the DVD players in just got to get some more hook ups.
I've uploaded a few more pictures.

Ha! I don't need to go to Scotland for that - get plenty of that 'daan souf'!
There was a recent article in Land Rover Owners mag where one of the writers on did some of it in a supercharged Range Rover, but I don't think he did the narrow bits.

Get that round The Lakes on the passes. They don't pull in and then look at you when they suddenly realise there's no room. I avoid certain roads in tourist season.
While we were going round Skye recently a prat in a BMW overtook when we pulled in to let the oncoming traffic through and just brought everything to a stop. All he did was reinforce the stereotype.

To be honest the drivers we met and saw all were very good and it was pretty empty. I did leave the lights on and had to get a jump from a Toyota Land Cruiser from Germany, heck of a nice couple and had a nice truck.

For those interested I have added some pictures after the window tinting and also with the roof tent on (Which folds away)

Welcome to my back yard ;)

I do anywhere up to 1200 miles per 5 day week in these area's, mostly serving wind farms and delivering cabins.

If you see a baby poop green Defender going flat out, breathe in and let me pass :D
