tell me tell me!

is it a gudgeon pin? bottom end?

i dunno, im not an expert with noises or diesels :)

Little more info for you
Was running fine, then lost all power & started rattling when accelerating, lots of dark grey smoke but only when revved, still starts & runs fine, but noticed when leant on the nearside wing i can feel a thumping type feeling which goes with the rattle, was shortly after a big puddle but have been in deep water before without problems & the air intake is all dry & turbo seems fine !
Im thinking the bottom end bearings or could it be a dropped valve ????
Ive had the top cover off & turned it over by hand & all rockers & pushrods are doing as they should as far as i can see.
any advice appreciated..........
gutted

Nah tis ****ed lol

Bugger thats what i thought, just the icing on the cake FFS !
Next question.......s
1 can it be repaired ?
2 can it be done with the engine in ?
3 am i better off not bothering with it as its on 185k ?
4 any one know of a good therapist ?
5 does anyone want to buy a dt 125 ?
HELP !!! LOL

Anything can be fixed lol but if you were to start fannying about with a 185k motor you woUld want to do the whole lot if i was you just get another motor there not exactly expensive and there is millions of rust boxs with good motors for less than 400 quid i havent changed one myself but it doesnt look hard but get it looked at first its impossible to tell from a youtube vid

It can be repaired but it would probably cost more than a 2nd hand replacement engine!
Source a good replacement and do an engine swap ;)

Perhaps you could find a block with a fried head and use your good top end?

Might work out cheap if you can find one!

Bearing sets for the 200/300 Tdi can be bought for peanuts from Island 4x4/Paddock Spares etc - if you're handy with a spanner might be worth a look. I would personally drop the sump and see what state the current bearings/crank is in.

Often a bit of emery round the crank and a set of new shells can half fix it, sometimes if you're lucky can fix it proper!

Has it lost oil pressure though?
