Just after Christmas the Disco became reluctant to start loads of turning over and at a good speed but perhaps 5 minutes before it would fire up although occasionally it would start first time.

As I had some oil in the Injector Harness I changed that but not a fix so off to my local independent.

Nothing showing on diagnostics so:-

They changed the Injector seals but that made no difference, they were showing signs of wear though and it runs a lot better now.

Checked the fuel pump but that was okay although there was dirt in the tank which they cleaned – still no starting.

Remembering back to another similar problem they swapped out the start motor all worked fine. Turns out that the starter and the Crank position Sensor are quiet near and they believe it to be electrical noise from the starter motor upsetting the crank position sensor.

Either - but it is cured I was posting as I had not heard of this cure before so was hoping to enlighten people to the fix

I had exactly the same on my 2004 td5, really good garage changed crank sensor, starter motor and injector seals. Before that really bad garage had unecessarily changed lots of other parts. 12 months on it's started first time every time. I think the garage said that there was something in the starter interfering with the ecu.
