Is there anyone else out there with noisy wipers on a D2?

I have just stripped mine down and found that not only does the motor work it's mounting screws loose, but the spindles where the wiper arms attach, can also become worn with excessive play.
It's easy enough to tighten the motor screws but the spindles will require the whole mechanism to be replaced, as far as I can see.

I managed to put in a second hand mech with new shims on the spindles and converted to aero wipers and now it's as quiet as a mouse! Peace at last!

Well done! Nice to read Bout these little jobs and peep's successes..... It's a job I have to bear up to when I take mine off the road for the rest of the list! :)

Noisy wipers? What other sort are there?
Seriously though, yes it's a job I need to get around to. I think the permanent rust stain around the base of the wipers is evidence that the wheel boxes are worn out.
But first i need to sort the leaking ACE pipe.............

Yes, I found a load of rust falling out when I took the big nut off. I greased the spindle on the replacement.

NFav, in case you're interested, I'm breaking a D2 which I think has ACE. Would you like me to check for a part or are you getting new stuff?

Thanks for the offer, but I had already ordered some pipes and just waiting to find a couple of hours to fit them.
Its only a low pressure one to the reservoir leaking very slightly, but ordered the one to the pump as well as thats looking very rusty too.
Thanks again for the offer though
