The steering on my landy 90 is very noisy when turning the steering wheel. The noise disappears when there is no pressure on the steering wheel but as soon as you turn it again the noise reappears. Could this be the steering damper as the noise is coming from that region.

Thanks

Sounds like your PAS pump has air in it or being starved of oil ( kinked pipe ) Thats of course you have PAS lol ..... !!!!

what have you got exactly?

roughly what does it sound like? rubbing, screeching, whurring etc...

sounds like the steering rack is either dry, worn or slightly bent. Will have a 'cog' type feel to it.

ok, maybe i do have pas. just checked the fluid level and its very low (not registering on dipstick). is this possibly the cause, and also how do i bleed the system?

Cheers

top up with fluid and turn lock to lock a few times turn off and leave for a few hours then check level and top up as if it has run low you will have air bubbles in the system
