Will have a listen at the air filter tonight. I’ve already done the valve clearance but will also double check that tonight. CheersI reckon you have a cylinder there not doing its fair share of the work.
It almost sounds to me like its backfiring through the air filter?
Have you removed the filter and stuck your ear for a listen?
Have you removed the rocker cover and checked the valve clearances? Im not sure if the 300s run the vlave lash caps same as the 200? and if they do the 200 are always spitting them out and the valve clearance goes from 0.20mm to 3.0mm.

Sounds like a good plan, will try after work later cheersIf you carefully go around the manifold with your hand [ do just after starting while motor is coldest ] you should be able to feel a leak, at the front or rear is most common place for them to gr if you get someone to start engine while you watch that area you will see a puff of black smoke from the start up system.

Yeah got a friend to do the timing belt whilst I was at work and he swapped out the injector for one of his spares and it runs sweet now, chucked it in for £30Did you replace it?
