Freelander 2.0L TDi,54 plate, making a noise, not sure how to describe it but similar to a wheel bearing except it does not get louder/stay the more speed you pick up
It seems to be at its worst in second gear between 20 & 30 MPH.
I think it is coming from the nearside but nearer the middle, i was convinced it was the offside wheel bearing so replaced today (nightmare- the race was stuck solid to the hub and I had to grind it off, as 5 different chisels, heat and too much time later it was still stuck solid).
Went for a test drive but the noise is still there- I am now at a loss as to what it could be.
The freelander is pretty new to me, I have worked on many rovers (214, 420, 45, 75) but the freelander is a different car entirely.
If anyone would be willing to offer advice, I would be very grateful.
