hi I got a prob with my p38. 2000 on a v reg 2.5 bmw engine and auto box.
The other day suddenly lost the reverse gear ?? all the forward gears and park work ok but totally no drive in reverse. I have checked the gear indicator switch and all ok as lights on stick and dash match up ok. it was a case of there one second and gone the next . any help and suggestions would be well appreciated

Have you tried it in Low range?

set the lever to neutral and check the position of the cable at the gearbox remove the split pin and the pin should slide easily if it does refit the split pin check the level of the gear oil and i would proberly try a oil and filter change

mine did it once also because i just started it up and shifted to reverse without letting it run for a min. or two and i just put it back in park and waited a bit and it worked fine and no problems after that.if yours still doesnt work i would try a fluid and filter change it worked wonders on my other truck.
