New boy here !
Disco 2 , TD5 auto, gutless wonder , gearbox is holding first for a short time when cold and and hill will cause the box to drop out of top , even a slight incline is enough!
I’m thinking two separate issues, but I’m a V8 man so TD5 is all new to me.
Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Yes it is gutless, its appalling that a modern 2.5 5 cylinder engine comes out of the factory with 136 BHP to pull 2.2 tonnes,
I have got rid of the erg valve, added a much bigger inter cooler, silicone air pipes, k & S Filter in the original housing, got rid of the cat and its got a bigger bore stainless exhaust system and ive had it re mapped so its putting out about 200 bhp now which is much better, it drives much better and i can actually pass cars with ease now, I have also got rid of the gas shock absorbers and fitted standard and some Hankook Ventus ST Tyres and it now goes round corners on rails, ive tried all sorts of tyres but these seem to be the best by far, the worst tyres were the continental cross contact UHP and they were £200 each .
Its actually a lot more economical as well on super diesel its doing about 40 mpg
The gear box needs fresh oil and filter and some Dr Tranny Lubegard in it, absolutely wonderful stuff
