Hi,

New member needs your help.

1997 300tdi all was ok till 2 days ago. Pressed button to open doors and nothing happened. Put key in door to open and only drivers door opened. Thought it might be dead battery but car started.

Here is what we have.

Alarm activates and de-activates as normal with key and fob.

No central locking with key or fob.

No indicator flash (I guess that is linked to central locking rather than Alarm)

checked fuses!

What else and how should I be checking?

couldnt tell you which one but there are quite a few in passenger foot well ........... it could also be the fingy in the drivers door which controls the central locking cant remember what its called now ..................

Hi, appear to have the same problem, same year vehicle as well. Got the Fob checked and it appears OK - don not believe it is that otherwise all door locks would still operate when the drivers door was locked/unlocked manually. Can't find any decent wiring diagrams either. Haynes shows fuses, but nothing linking in the ECU.

Is it just the central locking not operating but you can still unset the alarm and remobilise the engine?
For a CL fault only and the fob is working, then as the alarm and central locking share the same ecu so if you can still lock/unlock ok via the drivers door then the communication between the ecu and the master actuator within the drivers door has been lost.
The problem could be a simple bad electrical connection at the actualor or the ecu, but then it could be a faulty ecu.. or key fob if you can't control the alarm etc aswell..

Hi Discool, - Limegreenmonster, not wanting to take over your thread, but Discool, just checked and the Alarm/Immobiliser is not being activated when attempting to lock the Car. The central locking will not lock if we try to operate the drivers door lock manually. There does not appear to be any power to the actuator, we unplugged the connector and checked the orange terminal - (four wires, orange, black, pink and pink/yellow - if memory serves). ECU?
