Is the lift fuel pump running? It's located in front of the rear wheel - I will check.... Its an in tank fuel pump and I think it doesn't have an external one in the wheel arch, I think this was for older models but will look....

Pre facelift had an underbonnet pump, while post facelift have a pump under the rear wheelarch. All have an in-tank pump.

A thought: Has yours had the modified loom for the fuel rail pressure sensor? The original was prone to water ingress. I'd add taking live values for fuel pressure to your list for further diagnostics

If you're not helping the OP please keep petty squabbling for AG

OIG and WAMMER - dispicible bickering like children on a thread where a guy needs help...

Given the OP stated it smokes a bit and is gutless I suspect it is a boost problem, either it is making boost at the turbo but not at the manifold, sounds like a damaged / fallen off intercooler / hose, or it is an issue with the VNT section of the turbo not being able to move, which would tie in with one of the first posts about Turbo vent filter.

These FL1 TD4 engines turbochargers use vacuum to move the Variable Mozzles inside the Turbo, the vacuum is supplied from the vacuum pump on the passenger side of the engine, and its application to the turbo actuator is controlled by the ECU via a solenoid valve beside the filter. Either the water has damaged the solenoid valve, or pulled a vacuum hose off. They are ****ty little hoses made of perishable rubber and really ought to be replaced with non perishing silicone hoses.

My recommendation, check your intercooler hoses, check your vacuum lines, then test drive it. Regardless of it thefirst two things sort this issue, do a basic service, replace the vacuum hoses with silicone ones. If you still havent sorted the issue, then set about removing every plug from every sensor you can see and dowse plug and sensor with WD40 / similar. If that doesnt sort it I done know....

BTW If you enjoyed splashing in muddy puddles and want your landy to enjoy it too, waterproof the electrical connections with vaseline.

Check the turbo solenoid vent filter (looks like an old-school fuel filter). It should be near the top of the engine but can fall down. If that fills with water, you get those symptoms.

could well be on the money there 'Dog

Actually, I think it's 03MY onwards (i.e. Last of the pre-facelifts) that have the wheelarch pump only. The in-tank pump was deleted.

Oden did you manage to resolve your problem? 4 pages and 10 minutes of my life I wont get back I'm none the wiser. I ask because mine did this tonight and I remembered seeing this thread, it had been very sluggish pulling away but had no issue with speed but all of a sudden it would not go any quicker. I had arrived at my destination at the same time but when I got back in it the problem had gone and the engine was quite spritely, I had no lights appear on the dash either.

One thing for sure it won't be LAMBDA sensor will it. Stick it on diag if no fault codes it's mechanical.

Sorry for the late reply, been sick as a dog with man-flu....
So MAF off no change.
Boost Solenoid disconnected - no change
Disconnected the pipe for the solenoid vacuum to turbo - no change.

All this was done with the air filter removed as I didn't see the point in having it on, the engine idles fine but still won't rev up past 2000, unless I remove the inter-cooler pipe before the temp senor then i get move revs on full throttle but still have the same power issue, i.e none a tractor would beat!!!
In the pic below I saw a lot of oil coming from the hose (this isn't my pic but one I borrowed) so am thinking it could well be a problem with the turbo! going to disconnect ti now and see what happens.... Again guys sorry for the delay in responding and thanks for the help... (I will up load images asap)

Worth checking for a clogged intercooler?

Check the intercooler for blockage. Also wondering if it could be a blockage in the exhaust system. Weak fuel pressure.

Have you checked that the turbo actuator is moving through the full range? Loss of power at 2000rpm is usually turbo related, whether MAF, Solenoid, Actuator or the turbo itself.

The oil you show isn't unusual. I would be checking the Intercooler itself for blockage or a split and would also be cleaning, greasing and manually moving the actuator through its full movement range to ensure it's moving freely
