Recently bought a Disco 2 TD5 Auto ES 2001. I've wax oiled and filled the chassis with old engine oil, and changed all the fluids. I have been aware though that there is no neutral light on the gear selector, when it's in neutral, and it also doesn't display on the dash as being in neutral, and can't imagine that's right, or is it? Sorry if this has been covered but couldn't find answer anywhere. I do very occasionally get the flashing s&m lights, which I believe to be the xyz switch. I attempted to remove the switch today, but could not for the life of me undo the grey electrical connector, so had to give up. All back in place and working fine, but no N light still.
Loving the Disco so far, got some real character!
Thanks in advance.

Well, that's what I was trying to confirm, but yes. I managed to remove the xyz switch in the end. Removed it from the metal bracket first, then it was quite easy to pull the grey plug apart. Once removed from the car, I drilled out the rivets, disconnected all the wires inside the switch, and gave it a good clean. Refitted wires, reassembled switch using nuts and bolts and some extra sealant to keep any moisture out, extended air con drain plug, and refitted, adjusted, and now I have all the lights, and dash display in all gears, and no M & S lights!

well done

Thanks. Done a few bits and bobs on him now. The more I do, the more I learn. Fitted some 8" spot lamps today. Next job is the front oil seal on the transfer box, as I noticed it was weeping a bit.
