Hi I’m having many different problems with my disco 2 td5 at the moment one being that I have no power until around 2-2.5k rpm and then the turbo kicks in and it flies. I had a friend wind the turbo pin in as he said you can get a bit more boost from it. Since then I’ve had a stage 1 remap and fair enough the car is fast enough but when I’ve been out offroading today I struggle to get up hills whereas with my 300 it goes straight up without struggle as slow as you want should I consider winding the pin out again or won’t it change anything. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Dan

Theres no pin to wind in or out. Youre adjusting the turbo actuator which will adjust the boost pressure. I wouldnt really muck about with that unless you've got a boost gauge, or diagnostics to measure boost pressure. Too much boost and you'll be in limp mode.

Try unplugging the MAF sensor, located in front of the airbox, has 3 - 4 wires going to it. If it runs better usually means the MAF is dead.

I'd also check the ECU for oil in the red plug, if there is then change the injector harness. Island 4x4 have them pretty cheap.

Clean the MAP sensor, located on the inlet manifold, left side of the engine if youre looking at it.

hi mate unplugging the maf sensor didn’t make a difference and I checked ecu and there was some oil in the plug so I’ll order a injector harness and see if it helps and I’ll clean the map sensor. Cheers pal

If you unplugged the Maf and this made no difference, I would suggest checking your maf isnt at fault!

I unplugged mine (fully working) just to check it was operating without a proper diagnostic plug in, it obviously sets the ecu setting to a base map when unplugged, making it extremely low on power when trying to pull away.
I re-plugged the maf and it was back to normal good low down pull and not feeling gutless.

Lube your waste gate arm. There are videos on youtube showing you how to do it. Basically, remove the heat shield from the turbo, unclip the actuator arm. Then lube the wastegate arm working it back and too until it is rally free/loose. I did this on my TD5 and my MPG went from 30 to 35 and it has more poke. Cheap and easy trick to try.

Could be exhaust pressure down due to slight leak somewhere on the hot side of the turbo, warped manifold or EGR jammed open
