Just changed glow plugs and glow plug relay thinking they might be faulty as the glow plug light on the dash does not come on at all, the light worked fine up to May before this I heard a noise under the dash when driving at high speed could this be the probs. like so many I get bad starting and white smoke, this I deem as fuel not spent. has anyone got any idea as to a fix?

You will get more help when You visit the intro section before the savages come on

As for the fault what engine what year it all makes a difference when when u are asking for help

Have you considered...if the relays clicking in and out and the cars starting.... but no light on dash that it may simply be the bulbs failed in the dash ?

it will be a LED i think

does the bulb come on just when you switch the ignition when the car does a bulb test

all so if its hot the glow plus dnt work i think as there not needed

try powering the glow plugs direct from the battery first thing in the morning when the engine is fully cold and see how it starts up....10-15 seconds of direct power then turn key......... IF it starts properly with NO white smoke then you then know they glow plug relays faulty.

Hmm. May. What happened then? Oh yes! We started to get some good weather. ;)

The glowplug light doesn't come on if the ambient temperature is > 10ÂșC (or thereabouts)

Here's the search result: UK Based Land Rover Forum, Land Rover Gallery and Land Rover Links. - Search Results for freelander 1 glowplug light

Update on my Freelander TD4 2004 bought it in sep 2012 all worked fine,:) then in May my glow plug light stopped working all together and after starting got a bit of white smoke, this only happens on start up, which led me to think unspent fuel. (could it be a lack of high pressure spray?) Have replaced glow plugs and glow plug relay, no change so Friday 23/08/13 went on the hunt for other probs. I have no clicking on the glow plug relay, so I checked all the wiring. needed the Freelander, so I put it all back together, now it won't start!!! please I know this has been issued before, can anyone help please?
