After doing the headgasket on our '02 1.8 freelander i thought id check for any fault codes with my bluetooth obd reader, i had a code stored for the o2 sensor. this made me wonder why there was no eml showing, after checking the eml doesn't come on when the ignition is switched on either as id expect it too, i stripped the clocks down to find they don't have bulbs but surface mount leds on the pcb, are these known to fail often and has anyone replaced them? i also found the srs light had been taped over on the reverse side so that will need looking into.

As part of doing the headgasket i ordered all the service items everything has been fitted bar the fuel filter, a search on here shows the fuel filter to be part of the pump housing but ive been sent an inline filter with screw on fittings, is there 2 filters on the vehicle or have i been sent the wrong part? a quick look on eurocarparts under the reg number also seems to show only an inline filter available but i can't seem to see it anywhere unless it's tucked under on of the arch liners?

thanks
chris

hi mate

don't know if the petrol is the same as the diesel but my 02 td4 has the fuel filter behind the drivers side rear wheel arch

if u look under the rear wheel arch u should see a plastic tray that holds the fuel pump and filter

easier to remove the wheel, fold back the inner wheel arch cover for access, pull the whole thing out on its tray, get a couple of plastic bags to put over the fuel live and electrics to just protect them whilst disconnected

always better to replace the fuel pump with an oem one if u do ever need to replace the pump

fuel filter has push on fittings

hope that helps abit

That bloody fuel filter is listed for k series freelancer but it is wrong, it does fit k series in rover 200/400 models, freelancer fuel filter is part of fuel pump in tank
