Hello,

Can anyone help? I turn the ignition on, on my 98 Defender 300 TDI. No engine lights come on but the engine will turn over. Sometimes the lights come back on and it starts, sometimes I leave it for ten mins try again and it’s ok. Other times I leave it for a couple of hours. It's very intermittent.
I have checked all the fuses, taken the fuse panel off and cleaned it. Hasn't made any difference.
This only ever happens when I try to start up. The engine has never cut out once it is running.

Any suggestions???

Have you checked the earthing strap between the engine and the chassis?

I only mention it because I had a similar problem years ago with a Rover 200 Cabriolet.
