Interesting looking carabiners/snaplinks - whats their load rating?
Yes, I couldn't find my other lifting chain and I didn't want to loop a 2 tonne round sling in case it slipped in the top bow shackle.

The Carabiners are rated at 24kN (2.4 tonnes) closed, locked and length ways - 7kN (713kg) either open or along the short length....so plenty strong enough for a 220-odd kg of 300Tdi.

The dodgy bit is the bolt used when I shortened the longer length of chain - as a LEEA trained lifting equipment examiner (current until July 2017) I think I might fail that one! But did the job!

Just discovered something very similar on mine. The rear drive flange nut was loose, causing an oil leak. I know it was very tight when I put it all together just over a year ago. Maybe it's just something Land Rovers do in the spring as the sap rises. Anyway, I've given it a new seal, new flange and fibre washer, and a new nut and hope it stays put for a while.
