Hi all, I’m new to the forum and am now at whits end!!!!

My Range Rover Sport 2.7 is stuck in low range and after checking certain components and that the ecu was not soaked, etc, I decided to put everything back together only to find I’ve lost drive and when selecting P I get a grinding noise????

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

if you ge a grinding when selecting p either vehicle is rolling or t/box is in neutral or some other cause for loss of drive between rear of gear box and wheels

Hi James, thanks for the reply. I should’ve mentioned this happens when my foot is on the brake and the car is stationary. I’ve seen on certain sites that a “hard reset” might solve this?..

im no expert on those trucks but if it grinds theres no drive to the wheels presumably t/box isnt in low but neutral

A grinding noise when P (park) is selected sounds like the parking pawl is engaged at the same time as drive is being selected.

theres allways some drag and rotation through a box,if the park ring can rotate if it can rotate theres a break in drive train to the wheels

I had the same problem. turns out for me it was the motor that switches between hi/lo range on the side of the gearbox. for the time being i just removed it.

Hi all it turns out I need a transfer case module adaptation which apparently can only be done by a main dealer. Has anyone had this done or know the cost??

Got drive back by leaving battery off for a couple of days. I’ve checked the wiring to the Transfer case and all good. TCM no signs of water ingress. Transfer case solenoid and motor tested and all good. My mechanic recommended a transfer case module adaptation as the car drives but special programmes not available and hi/lo switch flashing
